Xpert Resourcing was delighted to attend the launch of Ely Hero Awards 2023 last night (Monday 17th April) in the beautiful surroundings of The Poets House Hotel based in our home City of Ely. A very special guest, Mrs Julie Spence OBE QPM, HM Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire attended and made a speech to local Business Sponsors, Judges and Winners from 2022. The importance of the support of the Lieutenancy brings a wonderful and exciting dimension to the event due to opportunities opened to Ely Heroes.

During the presentation the chosen Charity of the Year was unveiled – which is The Prospects Trust. Maz Baker, Executive Director of the Charity shared with the guests the story of the Trust’s humble beginnings back in 1989  to date where there are 80 Co-Workers that are taken care of under its wings of social enterprise providing meaningful work to individuals with additional needs. The presentation brought a tear to the eye! Ely Hero Awards are very proud to support and help raise up small Ely based Charities each year.

There are 18 fellow local Businesses that sponsor the event, and their continued support enables the organisers to put on a fabulous, glitzy Award Ceremony each year at The Maltings where finalists are made to feel like royalty and winners are crowned in each of the 10 categories. Last years Winners were present at this years’ party and it was heart warming  for business sponsors to catch up with them after last year’s ceremony.
