A night to remember at the Ely Hero Awards

 

Paul, Emma and Emily represented Xpert Resourcing at the Ely Hero Awards on Friday 11th September, and if you weren’t there, you missed a genuinely brilliant night.

This year’s theme was cocktails with a cause, and everyone made the effort. Finery on, tables done out beautifully by Party Malarky Events, Blueshed running lights and sound that made The Maltings feel properly special. Jeremy Sallis hosted, Star Struck Theatre Group (whom we are also proud to sponsor) performed two high energy numbers from Matilda, and eleven categories of finalists were recognised across the evening, each one a story about someone in our community going above and beyond for somebody else.

We were proud to sponsor The Ely Hero Award this year, the top prize of the night, chosen from among the winners of every other category. It went to Dr Zoe Hutchinson from St George’s Medical Centre in Littleport. Being picked as the best of the best from a room full of remarkable people is no small thing, and we couldn’t have asked for a more deserving winner to have our name next to.

His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, Julie Spence OBE, was there to introduce the award, which gave the moment the weight it deserved.

This year’s chosen charity was Arthur Rank Hospice, and thanks to a fantastic raffle and auction on the night, with Martin Millard from Cheffins Fine Art working the room brilliantly, the evening raised a phenomenal £4,000 towards their work supporting people across Cambridgeshire with advancing serious illness and end of life care.
