Honouring Ely’s Hero of Heroes

The Ely Hero Awards returned to the Maltings last Friday night in a glittering celebration of community spirit. The event, which recognises Ely’s most inspirational people, brought together nominees, supporters, and local businesses to honour those who make a difference.

Xpert Resourcing was proud to sponsor the Ely Hero Award, the ultimate accolade of the night – the “winner of winners”. Paul, Emma and Emily were there representing our team and had the privilege of presenting the award to this year’s deserving winner: Robert Barnes.

Robert’s story is nothing short of inspiring. Having raised over £200,000 for Arthur Rank Hospice, alongside supporting numerous local fundraising and charity events, his tireless commitment has touched countless lives across Cambridgeshire.

But Robert was not alone. Every finalist celebrated on the night is a true hero — their acts of kindness, generosity and perseverance all contribute to making Ely such a special place to live. It was a privilege to applaud them all.

The evening also raised an incredible £2,000 for CAMSAR Lowland Rescue, with lively performances from 4D Dance making the event even more memorable.
