Back where it all began with Xpert Resourcing, Recruitment Specialists in Ely, Cambridgeshire

This month Xpert Resourcing is celebrating their 5th Year in Business! It has been an incredible 5 years so far and with so many reasons to fall in love with Xpert Resourcing, local Recruitment Specialists based in Ely, this article takes you back to where it all began 5 years ago.

What started one evening as an idea over a glass of wine in the kitchen of Founders and Business Owners, Paul and Emma Smith has grown into a thriving, family-owned recruitment business based right in the heart of Ely.  The business provides tailored Recruitment Support for Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk from their City Centre offices. Xpert Resourcing is celebrating its 5^th year in business this month and reflect on how the years have flown by and share its story of how the business got started.

“The idea of the business was born out of creating that much sought after “better work/life balance’” says Business Owner Paul Smith. “Emma and I were both running recruitment teams in Cambridge (for different corporate recruitment companies) we were tired of crazy targets, KPI’s and corporate red tape! In addition to this, we had 2 young children that we weren’t seeing enough of, both of us wanting to be there to watch our family grow, be on the school run, take the kids to their clubs, have real family time and so one bottle of wine later and Xpert was born!”

The first 12 months of the business was simply a whirlwind for the local couple, juggling babies (“literally at times!” says Emma) securing offices, meeting clients and securing placements. “Clients seemed really keen to work with us, they like our fresh approach and it snowballed overnight” adds Paul. “Community is really important to us and as a business we really enjoy supporting local causes which plays an integral part of our business”. Xpert Resourcing continually supports local events such as Ely Hero Awards, local football teams and many other community interest companies within their home city.

The couple prides their business on not being your typical high street agency or corporate recruiter, they focus on working closing with clients and candidates with who they build strong relationships. “Being open, honest and simply doing what everyone wants… a good job!” Paul says “Our approach is consultative and it really sets us apart”.

Last year added a Business Development Manager to the team, Naomi Sherwood who brings a wealth of experience and local knowledge helping the business to grow. The company has been able to expand during the Pandemic and have exciting plans to keep thriving and growing over the next year.
